The Caterpillar 112 motor grader was introduced in 1959 in the USA. Production began in Australia in 1967.

The 112 has a D330 four-cylinder engine producing 85 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with an oil clutch and gas start.

The 112 was manufactured in the USA, with a 68E serial number prefix, and in Australia, with a 72H prefix.

In 1961 Caterpillar added self-adjusting brakes, beginning with 68E00468.

Production of 68E ended in 1964; it was replaced by a new unit, with a 91G prefix. The 91G has a direct drive transmission with an electric start.

In 1967 Cat introduced the Australian unit, with tandem drive, electric start, and 80 FWHP.

Production of 112 ended in 1968.
