Caterpillar 215D
The Caterpillar 215D hydraulic excavator was introduced in 1989 in Belgium as the replacement for the Caterpillar 215C. Production began in France in 1992.

The 215D has a Cat 3304 engine producing 125 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with increased bucket and stick forces, larger diameter stick to bucket pin, a new main valve body, fuel gauge, Bostrom 411 seat, auto engine speed control, 50 amp alternator, high capacity cab heater, ether starting aid, and a redesigned upper frame carbody, boom, and stick. It also features increased productivity from its predecessor.

The 215D was manufactured in Belgium, with a 9TF serial number prefix, and in France, with an 8CG prefix.

Production ended in Belgium in 1992, and France in 1993.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 2,300 Caterpillar 215D hydraulic excavators have been produced.
