Cat 525B
Caterpillar 525B grapple skidder
The Caterpillar 525B skidder was introduced in 2000. It was manufactured in the USA only.

[edit] Features

The 525B has a 3126 direct injection, turbocharged, after-cooled, diesel engine producing 160 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with a five-speed and lockup torque converter-countershaft transmission, front axle oscillation, and an articulated frame.

The 525B was given a 3KZ serial number prefix.

[edit] Modifications

In 2002 Caterpillar added a new cab design with a fuse panel and EMS III monitoring system, a 12-volt power supply, dual wipers for the front windshield, 45-degree side lights, a water tank with all light arrangements, communications radio, updated software, increased drum winch line pull, and spin on hydraulic filters, beginning with 3KZ00875. At the same time electric winch controls were added for skidders equipped with a grapple, and a trigger control was added to the grapple control handle.

Production of 3KZ ended in 2002.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 2,100 Caterpillar 525B skidders have been produced.
