Caterpillar 545 Skidder
Caterpillar 545
The Caterpillar 545 skidder was introduced in 1999. It was manufactured in the USA only.

[edit] Features

The 545 has a 33306 direct injection, turbocharged diesel engine producing 200 net horsepower (HP). It comes standard with a five-speed and lockup torque converter-countershaft transmission, front axle oscillation, and an articulated frame.

The 545 was given a 2FZ serial number prefix.

[edit] Modifications

In 2002 Caterpillar added a new cab design with a fuse panel and EMS III monitoring system, a 12-volt power supply, 45-degree side lights, a water tank with all light arrangements, communications radio, updated software, sweep design, spin on hydraulic filters, and the dual function cable fairlead was recessed into the arch, beginning with 2FZ00438. At the same time electric winch controls were added for skidders equipped with a grapple, and a trigger control was added to the grapple control handle.

Production of 2FZ ended in 2002.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 600 Caterpillar 545 skidders have been produced.
