The Caterpillar 918F wheel loader was introduced 1992 in England, Japan, and the USA.

The 918F has a 3114 direct injection turbo, four-cylinder engine producing 98 or 105 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It has a four speeds forward, three reverse powershift countershaft transmission with four-wheel drive. It comes standard with electric start, inboard brakes, load sensing hydraulics, as well as increased static tip load, rimpull, breakout force, bucket capacity, and a modified cab.

The 918F was manufactured in the USA, with a 3TJ serial number prefix; England, with a 2CK prefix; and in Japan, with a 5DL prefix. The 3TJ and 2CK have 98 FWHP; the 5DL has 105 FWHP.

Production in the USA ended in 1994.

Production in England and Japan ended in 1995.
