The Caterpillar 933F crawler loader was introduced in 1958 in the USA. Production began in Australia the following year.

The 933F has a four-cylinder engine producing 50 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It has a direct drive transmission. It comes standard with an integral loader, D4-size undercarriage, and a large bucket.

The 933F was manufactured in the USA, with a 42A serial number prefix; and in Australia, with a 25A prefix.

In 1961 Caterpillar added a forward reverse lever, beginning with 42A02106 and 25A00201.

In 1965 and 1968 Cat replaced the 933F with the 933G, beginning with 42A06164 and 25A00558. The 933G has a D320 turbocharged, four-cylinder engine producing 60 FWHP. It also has increased bucket size.

Production of 933G ended in 1968.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 9,000 Caterpillar 933F/933G crawler loaders have been produced.
