The Caterpillar D11R crawler tractor was introduced in 1996. It was manufactured in the USA only.

[edit] Features

The D11R has a 3508B engine producing 770 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with electronic clutch brake (ECB) steering with fingertip controls (FTC), electronic transmission control, improved multiple row module (IMRM) radiator, Cat monitoring system, heavier single-shank ripper, ecology fluid drains, modified braking, and equalizer bar and center pin mountings.

The initial D11R was given an 8ZR serial number prefix.

[edit] Modifications

Production of 8ZR ended in 1997. That same year, Caterpillar introduced a new D11R unit, with a 9TR prefix.

The new unit had its horsepower increased to 850 FWHP and torque raised by 25 percent. It comes standard with an advanced modular cooling system (AMOCS), modified power train, track roller frame (TRF) alignment, and undercarriage, strengthened main frame cast steel case, large saddle casting, cast front end, large dozer trunnions, two-position tilt cylinder mounting, abrasion resistant sprocket segments, chrome nitrode bushing treatment, and more robust links.

In 1998, Caterpillar introduced another new D11R unit, with a 9XR prefix. It comes standard with twin turbos (TT), engine control power system (ECPS), high sprocket, and electro-hydraulic implement controls.

In 1999, Cat introduced two more D11R units, with 7PZ and AAF prefixes. Both come standard with a 3508B EUI engine, increased fuel capacity to 425 gallons (1,609 L), AutoShift, and pin-on fenders.

The 7PZ also has a vital information display system (VIDS) and electro-hydraulic implement controls. The AAF is a carrydozer unit.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 2,300 Caterpillar D11R crawler tractors have been produced.
