From RitchieWiki

Caterpillar Crawler Tractors
Cat D6R XL Series II
The Caterpillar D6R Series II crawler tractor was introduced in 2001 in France as the replacement for the D6R. Production began in USA in 2002 and in Japan and Brazil in 2003.

[edit] Features

The D6R has a Cat C9 engine with a three speeds forward, three reverse powershift transmission. It comes standard with an advanced modular cooling system (AMOCS) radiator and torque divider. The horsepower of the tractor varies, depending on the unit.

[edit] Configurations

It is available in two configurations: the standard model has a track gauge of 74 inches (188 cm), the same as its predecessor; the Low Ground Pressure (LGP) configuration has an 88-inch (224-cm) track gauge. However, the standard configuration is available with two different lengths of track: the standard length is 8.6 feet (2.6 m); the XL (extra length) and XW (extra width) length is 9.3 feet (2.8 m). Both standard and LGP configurations are available with either fingertip control or differential steering.

The standard and XL tractor units have 22-inch (56-cm) shoe width, the XW has a 30-inch (76-cm) shoe width, and the LGP has a 36-inch (91-cm) shoe width.

The D6R II is also offered with different combinations of dozer blade types: straight (S), angle (A), semi-U (SU), or power angle tilt (PAT).

Standard configuration tractors with differential steering and 185 flywheel horsepower (FWHP) were manufactured in the USA, with an AFM serial number prefix; in Japan, with a BNL prefix; in France, with a BLT prefix; and in Brazil, with a BPM prefix. These tractors have SU, A, and PAT dozer blades.

Standard configuration tractors with fingertip control steering and 165 FWHP were manufactured in the USA, with an AEM prefix; in Japan, with a BMK prefix; in France, with a BLE prefix; and in Brazil, with a BRJ prefix. These tractors have SU, S, and A dozer blades.

Standard configuration XL tractors with differential steering and 185 FWHP were manufactured in the USA, with an AAX prefix; in Japan, with a BRZ prefix; in France, with a BMY prefix; and in Brazil, with a FDT prefix. These tractors have SU, A, and PAT dozer blades.

Standard configuration XL tractors with fingertip control steering and 185 FWHP were manufactured in the USA, with an AGM prefix; in Japan, with a BPS prefix; in France, with a BMJ prefix; and in Brazil, with a CAD prefix. These tractors have SU, A, and PAT dozer blades.

Standard configuration XW tractors with differential steering and 185 FWHP were manufactured in the USA, with an AEP prefix; in Japan, with a BRE prefix; and in France with a DAE prefix. These tractors have SU, A, and PAT dozer blades.

LGP configuration tractors with differential steering and 185 FWHP were manufactured in the USA, with an ADE prefix; in Japan, with a BRZ or AFD prefix; and in France, with a BNC prefix. These tractors have S and PAT dozer blades.

LGP configuration tractors with fingertip control steering and 185 FWHP were manufactured in the USA, with an ACJ prefix, and in Japan, with a BPP prefix.

Production of ACJ units ended in 2004. Production of ADE, AEM, AEP, AFM, AGM, DAE, BLE, BLT, BMJ, BMY, and BPM units ended in 2005. Production of AAX, BNL, BRJ, CAD, and FDT ended in 2006.

The Caterpillar D6R II was replaced by the Caterpillar D6R III.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 3,800 Caterpillar D6R Series II crawler tractors have been manufactured.
