The National Society of Professional Engineers is the only organization that represents the more than 400,000 licensed professional engineers across all disciplines within the United States.[1]

Founded in 1934 by a group of professional engineers at Columbia University in New York City, the NSPE serves as the voice and advocate of licensed professional engineers and engineering interns.

According to its website, the NSPE's mission is to “enhance the image of its members” through education, licensure advocacy, leadership training, multi-disciplinary networking, and outreach.[2] It also protects its members’ legal rights at state and national levels.

The organization boasts as many as 60,000 members and more than 500 chapters in 53 different state and territorial societies.[3]
