Reitnouer Aluminum Trailers

Reitnouer, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Bud Reitnouer, who was only 24 years old at the time. He was convinced that a better aluminum trailer could be manufactured without welding. Since aluminum is a heat treated metal, he believed welding (ie. re-heating a heat treated metal) structurally weakened the material at the point of attachment. He was convinced that bolting a trailer could eliminate this problem. From that basic premise, Bud engineered the Reitnouer trailer.

[edit] History

One of Reitnouer's trailers, the MaxMiser, can haul 90,000 pounds (40,823 kg) overall, with a full 50,000 lbs (22,680 kg) in a four-foot (1.2 m) section. As the MaxMiser's reputation for improved reliability and reduced maintenance spread, Reitnouer's market share continued to improve.

In 1992, as loads got bigger and bigger, Bud Reitnouer introduced the Big Bubba model, a 100,000 lb (4,536 kg) gross vehicle weight (GVW) trailer with the ability to load 60,000 lbs (27,216 kg) in a 4-ft (1.2 m) section.

In 2003, the MaxLite was introduced to serve the West Coast and South, where loads are most readily handled by an 80,000 lb (36,287 kg) GVW trailer that is rated to handle 40,000 lbs (18,144 kg) in a 4-ft section (1.2 m).

In the spring of 2007, Reitnouer introduced the Bigger Bubba, which is rated at 120,000 lbs (54,431 kg) gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), and can haul 72,000 lbs (32,659 kg) in a 4-ft section, and 85,000 lbs (38,555 kg) in a 10-ft (3 m) spread.

During 2007, Reitnouer introduced its first trailers in the new Transfer Trailer division: a tipper and a live floor model.

For more than 25 years, Reitnouer has been an industry leader in the sales of aluminum flatbeds and drop deck trailers.
