A scalper is a heavy duty vibrating screen typically fitted with grizzly bars or a perforated plate. Scalpers are used in mining and construction to separate large rocks from a predominately finer ore. Scalpers have large holes to accommodate large rocks, typically measuring 10 inches (25 cm) in diameter. Scalpers can either be used horizontally, or on an incline. Those on an incline have fewer problems resulting from rocks plugging up the gaps in-between the grizzly bars.[1]
