A tipover protection system (TOPS) is a cabin protective system designed to prevent injury to a seat-belted machinery operator should his or her equipment tip over. [1]

A tipover protection system is similar to a rollover protective structure (ROPS). Both systems are composed of cabin reinforcements made to withstand the forces imposed should machinery flip. While ROPS is designed to hold strong should a vehicle flip over completely, TOPS is only designed to protect the operator should equipment tip onto its side. TOPS is typically installed on smaller pieces of equipment, such as compact excavators. [2]

Tipover protection system may also refer to a safety system for oil and gas drums to prevent spills, vapour leaks, and explosions should a drum tip over.[3]
