Definitions
Old Through Truss Bridge over Brazos River, Texas
A truss is a rigid, jointed structure, which is able to support a vast amount of weight by transferring downward forces to end supports.[1] Trusses are commonly used to support roofs and bridges.[2] They are usually made of steel; although they may also be made of wood, concrete, or an alloy.[3] The supports of trusses usually feature a triangular design.[4]
